Anyone recommend a decent rear light?

Needs to be bright (obviously)
have a decent bracket that doesn't leave the light facing downwards at the slightest bit of rough ground
Not to bothered about loads of unnecessary flashing modes, one is enough.

So, what you chaps using?

A Micro Flare Duo. Has two independent sets of batteries, i.e. one at each end so you can light it from either end or from both for that extra brightness.

Had it a while now and use it regularly and not changed the batteries yet.

Reviews say that light isn't bright though.

Pretty sure this is the one's my mates recommend: Cateye TL-LD1100

One thing, be aware of where the thing mounts. I once had a very nice light that went on the seat post. On my wet ride home, I couldn't understand the abuse and horns. It took me a while to realise that my long jacket was over the light. I have since then prefered the increasingly hard to get type that can fit to a reflector bracket or that little bracket you get on the better rear racks.

Or one of those black with white bones jersey things.
anything reflective will be better than a rear light
