The user known as Barman1

I'm happy for my details to go on the list. Whoever is doing it (John/ishaw/whoever) just lemme know what you need.

Grish,

PayPal does indeed take a percentage of any "for goods" payment people make. This is much more than a "gift" payment.

Then again it is preferred to use the "pay for goods" option, as it's the only one that allows you to make a claim if there's something wrong with the item(s).
If necessary, get in touch with PayPal and ask them how much you should pay to let the seller get the correct amount. Think of the extra money as an insurance premium.

Right, crime reported. I've been advised that I can report other incidents but this will not count as a seperate/multiple instance of the same crime until the 'victims' themselves report it. I'm awaiting contact from the case officer, as well as a crime reference number, but I did suggest that should others wish to report their instance of the offence, that perhaps when they do so, they could also include the crime reference number I will receieve to help correlate the issue in their systems, and they thought that this would be useful, so as soon as I have the reference number, I will post it up here.

Could those affected who are happy for me to include their details when I speak to the case officer, let me know, and perhaps indicate the sum lost, when you paid, how you paid, teh forms of communication used, any email addresses, paypal details etc you may have, I will certainly pass this on.

If they do decide to investigate this further, I assume that the mods on here will be OK to be contacted? I know that this issue is not anything to do with them and steps have been taken to ban the user, but just in case the police want to contact you, could you let me know how you would like them to do do (even if it is via RB).

Does anyone have the details of what took place on singeltrackworld as well, as this would also be useful to pass on to the police.

Cheers

Ian

I'm happy for the Guv to have my contact details.

Sorry for all those that have been stung. TBH I usually ask for pp gift when selling but have no problem when people ask not to use it. Just adds a couple of quid to the price.

So much for keeping this to the point.

If the Police need any information from me of course happy to assist where I can.

The first post in the thread is updated with who is owed what as far as I'm aware / told.

We have no plans to hold details for any users. Although we try to help in such situation at the end of the day the site cannot hold any responsibility for trading which happens here - we simply supply the platform.

Hi Jon, apologies if it is me who has taken this off topic. So far as retrobike and liability is concerned, I'm 110% clear there is none, and it is merely the means by which we interacted initially. The purchase and methods of payments chosen were entirely our choices.

How did you pay grishindmitry? Did they refund on a gift? If so, that could be good news for us all?
