Yeah it does sound bad, why not just get lessons and then get a proper car, pay dividends in the end

So what folk are saying is take a grand plus loss, spend a lot of cash on lessons then get together another couple of grand to avoid a banger :?

Not in the long run, money spent passing your test will pay you back in spades for the rest of your life- what price do you put on freedom?
Can't you hot rod it Velo? Slap a Hyabusa engine and box in it? Or even better, one at each end? That would wipe the smirks off their faces. It would have formula one levels of performance.
Looking forward to the post christmas downturn at work so i can get atuck into my own vehicles. Vito still has starting issues and needs the paintwork tidying plus a smattering of suspension parts. Jensen is still stripped waiting for paint and the Alfa Sprint is just a bare shell. I'm hoping to get the Jensen painted over the holidays and re-assembled over january, so i can get it up for sale when the warm weather returns.
Alfa is booked on a ferry to France on the 6th July for my 40th birthday. I had better get my finger out!

I wasn't actually asking for opions originally just informing because people ask about my wee car. Some of the freely given opinions I could live without as they're hardly encouraging.
I'll stay out of the motor chat forum, internal combustion stuff clashes with my enjoyment of human powered push bikes.

Tough choice Velo, but i'd be reluctant to fork out £675 on a new box with a bad reputation, i've never heard of a gearbox to be non-rebuildable though, a good gearbox specialist should be able to do it and offer a guarantee.
Just did a Google search on the Comex box, noticed its a CVT, Ford tried CVT years ago without much success, but then the old 70's DAF's used CVT and those were bombproof.
