1998 Kona Hei Hei

Beautiful frame. Mind you, there's often something disquieting about buying a de-badged top of the line frame with the lock still attached!

This is not a Hei Hei.

The 1998 had a painted head tube and all Hei Heis are Sandvick and have distinctive bullet shaped ends to the stays at the drop outs.

This also has a rear canti hanger. No kona ever had these and were all v brake since 1997.

so there.

Hmm.. does anyone like Konas?

Haha Jez has got a ringer, Jez has got a ringer. ;)

Ok, I'm misleading you all, I like Konas.

:D

All Hei Hei have made in usa on bb shell.

The drop outs are exactly the same as mine and mines a pre-bullit drop out model. 1990/1991.

And to top it off, my best mate has a 19" Hei Hei of the same era:

- Same drop outs
- top tube cable stop and also the "ring" cable stop on stays
- Made in USA on BB
- same extended headtube 1 1/8th headtube

Ill get some pics..

Cor! Two of you have been duped!
When it says made in USA it's not meant to be in biro!

OK, kidding over. ;)
It looks distinctly Kona to me.

Yummy, humble pie. I'll be the first to admit I might have been wrong. It's never happened before so I am not too sure what to say.

I wasn't ever expecting to see a 'retro' hei hei on fleebay. It was the rear cable hanger that threw me.

I am now prepared to admit it imght be 1992

I am going to go and chastise myself before saying 1,992 "Hail Hei hei"s at my Kona alter.
