Skibiking meeting and test day

Pricey

Because of the limited manufacturing runs all dedicated skibikes are quite pricey, typically around £1000 and upwards. Sledgehammer from Austria are the cheapest and even have a sale on at the moment see http://www.sledgehammer.at/
It is only worth buying if you have are likely to be in Europe for more than a week a year, or perhaps live close enough to the Scottish mountains to make short trips.
You can easily have a taster by visiting Austria on a budget airline for a long weekend, be warned the sensation is great fun and very addictive.
If this weeks session goes well and the dome staff are satisfied about the safety of all users, it might become a regular event, there may even be a spare bike going next time.

Dry ski slopes

There is no harm asking your local dry ski slope, they may be a little put off due to worries about health & safety.
Find out which material they use as the older material, Dendix has a better sliding sensation, but IMHO could be dangerous in a spill due to the hexagonal matrix shape catching a handlebar causing a wrist break etc.

OOooh thats true, but surely its just the same danger as anything on the slope as it is hexagonal as you say.

Dendix

Yes  It was common for skiers to fall and instinctively put out a hand to break the fall. The thumb would catch and get wrenched backwards, dislocations and breakages happened. According to some sources, our wonderful modern litigious society has driven the need for the modern alternatives now being installed.

Or the local park in winter - we had a 6 week sledge season here last year on the north facing slopes
