Well I didn't think that this day would come (again) but it has .......

I tried the 29er thing last year with a Swift and it just didn't work for some reason :? Didn't feel right.

I recently had a quick spin on a (too small for me) Specialized 29er - Thank you Kev :D

Despite the relatively short period of time on the bike it seemed to make sense and was a lot lighter that the Swift.

So when a suitable frame came up recently I jumped at the opportunity.

This is what I got - Images courtesy of the on-one website:

Frame arrived this morning and first impressions are good - in fact very good :D

I cannot speak re alignment or such like but the finish is very good with weld neatness easily comparable with my Cotic Soul.

Paint is an awesome green and I even like the decals

The frame has swapable dropouts so I have both geared and singlespeed options.

The frame even has canti mounts! (with adapters).

Build is still TBC. I have most of the bits - not all high endbits; some bits budget but hopefully give me a better idea as to if I want to spend anymore money.

So thats it. I own and On-One and I (so far) very much like it

If the wheels I have weren't disc only I would have gone with a build like this - How cool

➡️ EDIT: 4th October 2011

I have been slowly gathering bits for this build.

The plan was to go budget and used - almost all of the build either came from what I had already or from the classifieds.

This is seen a bit in component choice but hey ho :D

Te plan is if I get on with the frame and big wheels I will add /replace as finances allow.

So here she is:

➡️ EDIT: 4th November 2011

Finally finished ....... for now.

1 x 9 Set up using a late 90's XT mech, shifter & cassete.

I had a 2 x 9 conversion planned but the chain I have was too short so 1 x 9 will have to do for now.

Not heavy heavy still lighter than my Swift was but by no means light.

If I get on okay with bigger wheels I will look to invest in some better (matching!) wheels.

➡️ 1 x Really rubbish picture

You got a good deal on that Mark, looking forward to the updates mate.

Cheers Fella.

As it turned out it was a good deal.

For a big frame (21'') I'm surprised how "un gate" like it is!

Looks good

I contemplated getting one of these to replace my Mongoose 29er for commuting but the lack of mudguard mounts ruled it out :(

I think you can run full guards with no issues ...

Just trying to negotiate a reba fork for this build  It won't be light (none of mine seem to be) but should be fun.

Think I will be going geared in the end but it will have to be SS to start :?
