Quite literally ...."Elbow Grease"..... No reallly its a household non solvent based degreaser comes in a clear bottle with yellow liquid produced by 151 products plus a little old fashioned elbow grease (effort + VERY hot water)

http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=151+ ... ease&hl=en

Now they are clean and degreased I will be applying a little spit and metal polish to bring them up to a better shine

Ok so I was a little concerned about the condition of the wheels, and after spending several more hours polishing other metal parts the time came to get to work on the wheels. While they are not perfect they turned out more than acceptable with a little work
Also the new tyres turned up, just need to get some rim tape and the wheels can get put together ready for the rebuild

Got new rim tape so wheels are now built, now starting on the paint strip, for reference B&Q paint stripper is terrible and or 30 year old paint does not give up very easily......

This is looking great so far :D
If it was me though, I would stay with the original colour but I'm gonna wait and see how it turns.
No doubt it will be great when complete.

Just been in contact with our Bodyshop, and they will colour & clear coat the frame for £30.... :D All I've got to do is finish off the strip, clean, degrease & primer the frame prior to the paint job.

Result....benefits of working for a large motor dealer group I guess

Frame fully stripped, cleaned, degreased and primed ready to go off to the painters, going to keep quiet about the colour until it comes back, as I could be committing a sin but colour is within reason down to my Mrs and Son, so hate it or love it, it will be what it is.........
