Following my all too brief flirtation with the GT Timberline followed by the little T24 last month  I've had the urge to go back to steel.

This week I have mostly dragged myself kicking and screaming back into the 21st century and built this . . .

So much fun without a squishy rear end shouldn't be allowed :p

You can see the build progress pics here.

you can't beat steel imo. :D
Fair point and although I love the look of the inbred series frames I must say the one I bought was a bit of a disappointment to ride, felt dead to me. Seem popular enough choice so most likely a personal thing.

It will be fun, but I found the 456 steel harsh. I upgraded to the carbon and it's much more comfortable and lighter. For the price though, it's impressive

Cheers all! Yes, it's a lot of fun and very confidence-inspiring with the Lyriks up front. I don't find it harsh at all (despite being more used to 7" out back ;) ) but most of my previous hardtail builds have been alu. Makeshift budget chain guide is holding up well too so far - quiet as a mouse and no chain derailments.
