1990 Parkpre Catalyst

That's outstanding work, and a very nice retro bike - it has found its perfect predestined owner at last, after all these years!

I wonder whether having sight of Gaucho's example might make you reconsider the pink cables. There is plenty of colour in the frame already, and the red at the back is particularly clashtastic with pink. Black is respectful.

It may not make much difference, but my own records indicate some difficulty in interpreting Fairly serial numbers around then. F310 5418 is a 1994 Explosif, and it may well be that 310 means it was built in October 1993 - and with 94 Explosifs going on sale in September 1993 and built a few months before sale, F310 may indicate mid-season. On that basis, F909 6591 would mean September 1989 and a 1990 model.

However it appears that F9 is sometimes a variant of F (maybe a particular department of the works?), so in those cases the 9 doesn't denote date. e.g., F912 3431 is a 1991 Lava Dome and F911 0289 is a 1992 Explosif Pro. This suggests that those frames were built in February and January 1991 respectively, not in 89 (1992 Explosif Pros used 1991 frames). If that basis applies, your bike would have been built in September 1990, making it a 1991 model.

I wouldn't like to say for sure, but subject to further evidence arising I think 91 is slightly the more likely.

I hear what you are saying and cannot doubt it at all. The pink cables are a personal whimsy. The colour on the decals is a very good match and I just fancied a bike with pink cables.

Found these pictures of a totaly original one  I think my interpretation is prettier.

Amazing

I think you did an amazing job on this build. I was never really impressed with the splatter paint theme until I seen this bike! The pink cable housings are perfect!
