just been reading an eBay listing for a disc brake set that states:

"include two adaptors: one for a rear 203mm rotor post to IS and one for a front 203mm rotor post to IS. The front adaptor also works for a rear 160mm post to IS."

:?

that b*ll*cks isn't it?

thanks folks, Al :D

yes, that is incorrect.

To run same size disc using post mount callipers on IS mounts, the rear needs 20 mm more.

So if adapter on front is for running 200 mm disc, the same adapter will work with 180 mm disc on the rear.

To help you figure it out, below is photo showing IS callipers. If they they are fitted to IS mounts (both fork and frame) they both will run iwht 160 mm discs (no adapters).

The lug on the rear moves the caliper out by 20 mm hence if using post mount callipers (F and R are idetical), you need the longer adapter at the rear. Hope that has made it clearer ... :?

let's see if the photo works ....
