I am awaiting a bike thats destined to be picked apart for its precious bits and bobs. It has a pair of (as far as I can tell) first generation answer manitous with an 1 1/8" steerer. I was hoping to get an idea from those in the know what a pair in good nick should fetch. Im torn between flogging them on and burying them in the attic with a view to rediscovering them in 25 years!
Any pointers will be gratefully received.
Thanks

what's it worth?

Kona Chute owned from new, still got all the receipts!

custom spec: hope pro brakes, hope pro hubs built on mavic d321 rims, bomber Z1 forks, X-Lite FLY stem (in black - was special request and was told by x-lite was the only 1 ever made in black), FSA Orbit XL11 headset, XTR: cranks - BB - rear derailleur - shifters + cables, XT front derailleur, Azonic World force PDW bars, DMR V12 pedals.

All parts are same age except for grips, seat, tyres and 1 of the discs.

Bike is used, no cracks in the frame, never been welded or anything but does have stone chips.

Gets looks everywhere! Really!

1993 Kona Lava Dome.
Original spec mostly except the rims were replaced.
Even sports the original Drive A and Propulsion tyres, I think I also have a part worn "Drive B" rear.

Shifters Shimano Deore
Rear Mech Shimano Exige
Stem: Joe Murray Velocity
Crankset: Sugino Supershifter Pro

Head adorned with Mint Sauce still :)

Also have a Girvin Flexstem which was fitted for quite a period.. before I got into Full FSR bikes!

Go on... what's she worth ?

Thanks

£150-170 plus postage id say.

Orange Clockwork '93

Orange Clockwork bought from Denton Cycles (Newcastle) in 1993.
21" frame
Original frame and forks, XT thumbies, and X-Lite bar ends.
Stem is a Syncros hinged front plate - very nice. Answer Taperlite bars, Control Tech post, WTB Ti-railed saddle - now a bit battered.
Wheels, mechs, chainset etc all more modern LX or Deore.
Brakes are Magura hydrualics HS33 from about a year ago.
Well used until about 2003, when I bought other bikes and it was put in the garage, but then became my daily commuter in late 2008 and used for C2C etc. Plenty of little scrapes in the paintwork, but no dents or anything in the frame.
Well used and well loved.
I'm possibly looking to sell if I can get a sensible offer, just to free up cash to spend on other bikes, family etc.
Any thoughts on what it might be worth, or is there anyone interested in it?
Many thanks
Fraser

few nice parts on there, i would say about £ 130 -140

Rock Shox Judy FSX forks. Small crack on brace on either side (1-2mm). Elastomers replaced with springs. Stanchions immaculate. 1 1/8" by 200mm steerer tube. Decals good. Adjusters replaced with more recent ones. Recently serviced.

Just gauging what they'd be worth, although not sure if I can bring myself to sell them.

Lbs has a Marin Eldridge, grey with the orange fork 1990. Defo all original apart from the rear tyre. Lx front and rear mech, dx shifters, lx hubs, black rims. Needs a good old deep clean, is currently £100, I reckon I can get it down. Is that ball park price? Too much / a bargain? Seriously tempted especially after reading prof garnsworth rebuild thread...
