Been a long process getting things together for my 2/3 builds - almost home now....

Doing my utmost to get at least one done this week/next week - as my fitness is really suffering.

Asides chains and grips, which i'll buy new, i'm lacking the following, folks -

Reasonable cheap disc brake set up F/R
(running Avid reds or whatever they are at the mo' and it's for a free ride/trail/jump bike so need a sturdy<ish> set-up)

1 1/8 sprung forks for above bike - just shy of 200mm
(i have Manitou Sx's - never ridden them so unsure if they'll be ok - these aren't so urgent)

1" threaded 155mm or unthreaded ?? sprung XC forks - for that Dawes i found, skinny rockshox or marzocchi's?
(I'm 9 1/2 stone at the moment :/)

Also need advice on best local folk to cold-set my frame from 130 to 135mm (MacDonald Raleigh?)

Sugino or raceface 42/44t compact drive

Skinny XT 737? Crankset

2.1" XC folders for my Marin

Any half decent V-brakes, even half a set would do.

Thanks in advance, for any help you can offer me.

Andy

Coldsetting your frame is easy, look up the late great Sheldon Brown for his tips, 5mm is nothing much so you needn't bother with mechanics prices ;)

yeah - i did!! Still reckon i'll make a mess of it!!

it isn't much but need to make sure it's all aligned.... :/
Should i just have at it then??

Have at it, just be cautious a wee bit at a time, 5mm is really not much.
I have a friend who adjusted his from 126mm to 135mm without a problem, steels got enough give ;)

However if you've got the fear, reach for your wallet and get a proffesional to do it, that way you can shout at him if he gets it wrong instead of kicking yourself.

Your choice ;)
