Retro Newbie
I know its a newbie question but i have a 1986 Peugeot with chrome forks with surface rust but also on the frame as well, not too much but enough to be annoying. How do i remove??

also how do i know if my wheel hubs need replacing???

Many Thanks.

wire wool? but might scratch the finish around it
or put some gt85 on it and then polish it up?

Depends how bad it is DONT use wire wool, use Autosol metal polish just this once, then to maintian it use a gentler polish. Autosal is available at most auto shops. Apply it it using a soft cotton cloth (old T-shirts are good for this).

.

Ive done so much restoration work on old bikes and motorbikes and Ive encountered all kinda stuff like this not always successfully I may add

So what you use??? and hubs?

The polish I like is a bit harder to find and not that cheap but it lasts
OK, I got my last batch off Ebay its called ALU by Belgom.

Give the hubs a good visual check (for cracks) then take the skewer off
and hold the black rubber bit turning it back'n'forwards feeling/listening
for grinding they may need the bearings replaced.
