Funky chain device

But I never use the extents of a 9 speed cassette on only the middle ring, always thought it'd cause added chain and cassette wear.

yeah spotted that

i always use the extents
seems about the same/no significant increase in wear

Looks similar to those found on kids bikes but with bolts to hold it on instead of molded plastic, simply marketing "common sense old inventions" as "new technology".

They seem to be trying to make more of what is simply a single chain ring set up in their sales pitch to make it look like only their product will help you achieve the end result. A bit odd but I guess they need to push it in any way they can.

I've always use the full extent whatever the ring, never got more than 7 at the back though.

I had no idea I could see into the future.

Sandwich plate guide/bashring I made for my DH bike back in 96.

yep he is right
although theirs will probably stand up to dh et al
they just cant be hassled with the problems and broken ones they will get back

maybe go for royalties?
clearly not a new idea
could be onto a money maker for your self there

if you use a thick enough front ring with a bashguard, the chainring nuts will sometimes have enough thread left that you can bolt another bashguard ino the back of the nuts = same result as OP.

'Love' the way they market it like it's an invention
