1994 GT Zaskar LE -> New pics on page 3

Retro Guru
Hi everybody. Have been lurking around here long enough. As I have obtained the majority of parts for this build right here, I thought I'd show you this.

This was built for my girlfriend. We went through countless RetroBike builds, looking for something she would like. As it turned out, she had a very clear idea of what she wanted and how she wanted the end result to look like. Main source of inspiration turned out to be stevetait's 1994 Zaskar. Thank you, Steve!

So this is what came out of our build. I'm very proud of this and the owner seems to be too. As you can see, it's 1x8. No front derailleur hassle! Slick tyres. Fast but comfy. Not exactly period correct, but that was not the goal. The spec list:

I think XT 739's look very nice on this. Rims are grey anodized Mavic X517's.

I used lock-on grips because I got tired of forcing regular ones in. But I think they look ok enough.

The L&M cranks. Spider is a bit faded though. Any idea where to get a new one?

Just a few touches of colour.

The stem had to be short. It's modern, but I think it kind of goes well with the frame.

So that's it. Hope you like it.

Nice, suble colours. The L&M spider you might be able to get re-anodized
since there's presumably nothing wrong with it. Some of the guys on here
were going to do their own.

Good to see another single speed Zaskar !

Thank you for the comments! After a while I think we kind of decided not to apply the decals as not to hide the polished frame.

Update! This bike is going to be upgraded with some new (old) stuff.

Current rims are almost worn out, so new wheels are being built as we speak. New wheels will have NOS X517 rims with M737 hubs. Then there are Middleburn RS3 cranks with a red 110 spider waiting, and a Kore Light seatpost and SR LowFat pedals. And lighter tyres too! And lots of titanium bolts! I'll take some pics when all is done.
