Yes, I asked for the centre-of-crank-to-centre-of-top-tube distance and he said 23 inches/58.5cm which isn't an ideal match for my short fat hairy legs.

It was an awful feeling, to wonder out to find nowt but an empty handrail where my very first MTB was locked just a few hours earlier. They took the U-lock too.

6ft 3". As it was my first bike, I had shifted from 23.5" road bikes so the same frame seemed natural. It was early days so no one in the bike shop suggested I might a bit more "Ally Palais" for off-roading.
