Eddy Merckx Super Prestige

A mate of mine has offered to sell me his Eddy Merckx bike - he's looking for £80.

I've had a bit of a hunt 'round the net and I'm pretty sure it's a Super Prestige. Can't find much more info than that, and I was wondering if any of you chaps had any more info about them?

Most specifically, is it worth forking out £80 for? I've always wanted a Merckx frame, but this one doesn't really leap out at me for some reason.

hang on a bit fella. This isnt the sort of Merckx frame that might be considered lightweight, specialist, racing fayre. This is very much a 1970's typical teenagers 5-gear-racer as we called em. Probably made by raleigh or some big name with a licence to brand as EM. My mate had one, frame exactly like that. The BSO of its day.

Well, if you want a goer with some nostalgia thrown in, then why not, but other than that, Ive seen better stuff for £80. Only my opinion and all that.

I should probably have been a bit clearer - well aware that this is more of a nostalgia trip than a decent bike.

I was more wondering if there was anything that set it apart from the standard retro BSO brigade!

I'll see if I can get him down to £60

Possibly a Falcon built excample. They had the Eddy Merckx licence to build at one time.

Unfortunately nothing special, certainly not £80 worth IMHO.
