Pending taking delivery of a new set of wheels soon and getting the rear stay adapted I'll be looking to upgrade to a disc set up.
I want to make this as painless as poss  The rear hose needs to be long enough for a 20" cinder cone frame, I know little else what I'd need!
Oh and some 9 speed shifters.

I'm more a fan of lightweight than overkill.

I may have an XT non parallelogram V set and pair of rim brake mavic XC717's on black XT hubs also dual control Deore 9 speed floppy paddle STI thingys to trade.

These any good? They've probably done 5 miles at the most.

LX dual control disc brakes. £65 pair (no discs)

cheers chaps!
suburbanreuben is in the lead so far, assuming rotors comes with it!, although the shimano offering is extremely tempting as I'd not have to fork out for separate shifters.....

Whats this post mount and IS mount thingy all about anyway? (i have a 2001ish SID fork)

Yup, the rotors and all bolts come with it, plus a load of spare pads, and long, long hoses. The brakes are ready to fit and go.
Post mount is the old manitou, now pretty standard , system.
IS (international standard) was pretty common for 10 years or so.
Most rear mounts are IS.
