After some info from those in the know, been looking into tuning my rear Ultegra road mech, found some carbon cages from Fibre-Lyte,they do an ultra lightweight cage weighing in at 2gr but how safe are these for everyday riding?

thanks

andy

I used carbon cages for every day riding with no problems.

But being a road ride i wouldn't think it would like to come in contact with the road or kerb if you came off.

Fibre-Lyte have been making them for years and make chainrings from the same stuff. Don't they have 2 flavours though? Light and ultra light. I'd do your sums though and see how much you are saving and spending versus buying a dura ace mech. There is also a seller on ebay who does both mech plates.

Thanks for the info, had a look but unforunately he only does the top rank stuff XTR & DA and not for us lesser mortals running 6600 :(

I'd pm him, its possible the plates are interchangeable

I have,i asked if he did Ultegra stuff,he didnt mention about interchangable bits, dont want to order if they dont fit properly, better get the dremel out i suppose :p

Have ordered the outer from Fibre-Lyte now, wouldve liked an inner but hey ho
