Which forks for a semi integrated headset?

My partner Katja has an old German road bike that has a Semi integrated headset (1 1/8th) - with steel cups that sit on the inside of the head - into which the bearing cartridge sits ( i think!!). Anyway she needs new forks - but the options are endless / confusing and not all are compatible. Has anyone got any idea which forks might not be compatible and which might be? The local bike shop seem flumoxed by it.

if they are 1 1/8th A-head style then any carbon forks will fit you will just have to cut the steerer column down after fitting the bars to the right height.

Thank you - I guessed as much but I think my confidence was thrown by the bike shop who seemed confused and unsure as to how to deal with the headset.
