I have a mate with a budget between £250 - £300 to give for a for a 19" framed mountain bike.
The bike will be used for 'secret training' but he will attach a kids seat to it to keep his missus happy while he sneaks out for rides! Because of the kids seat, a sloping top tube would be good (Kona style) for ease of mounting/dismounting and a bottom pull front mech will be needed to keep the seatpost cable free for the kids seat clamp.
