alternatively, get to a DIY store and find the bit with rubber stick on feet for table legs etc. get a couple of nice thick ones and stick them to the frame where the fork legs hit - spreads the impact a lot and looks much tidier...

slabs of rubber with a sticky pad on the back, stick it on the frame instead of having the bumpers on the forks.

does the same job of spreading the impact over i wider area but also adds a cushioning effect.

personal choice of wether you want a rubber pad stuck to the frame or having those bumpers on your forks.
