the right side crank of my xt M739 chainset - when fitting to the bottom bracket - seems to sit right up against the rim of the taper so effectively i cannot tighten it much - if at all.
just wanted to check that i do indeed need a bottom bracket with a longer spindle - cant remember the length i have in there right now, but would this solve my problemo?
if this is hard to understand i could get pics at some point tomorrow....

is it possible that you have the wrong size shell width for your frame?

doesnt sound too out of place, my old isis ones were similar
but they didnt touch
very close though

if its rubs and you cant tighten it much though
sounds like wrong shell width or spindle length

hmmm....not sure, the other side seems to fit fine - as in there is plenty of taper left to tighten and push the crank on to.....

check shell width first
sounds like it could be a 68mm bb in 73mm shell

are there any spacers on bb you could take off?

i think you could be right.
im not using the bottom bracket it came with, using another i had that i thought was the same size. might just try that one out at some point...:S

Is it a cartridge Bottom bracket, or a traditional seperate axle and bearings?

Old style ones have a longer taper on one end that should be on the drive side.

Just a thought.
