Anyone got a simple guide to how/when to bleed disc brakes?

Got some Hope Minis on my new ride and I'm clueless.

Tools/methods/timing?

Did you get sorted TL? They shouldn't be too bad to do. I've done a few Hope brakes and they've been amongst the easiest. Drop me a PM if you need any pointers. Just have the following to hand and you'll be sorted:

Rubber gloves (brake fluid is nasty stuff)
Some rags or kitchen roll (as above)
DOT 4 or 5.1 fluid (5.1's got a higher boiling point)
6mm spanner for bleed nipple (could be an 8mm)
Having someone to pull the brake lever whilst you open the bleed nipple helps, not essential though.

Good luck! :)

Thanks - it's a proactive ask now as I think the brakes are working well. when / how do you know your brakes need bleeding?

generally they shouldnt
its when you come to change the pads that they might as the pistons will/might need to be reset

or general maintenence
or if they feel spongy

but as i said, once its done properly on a sealed system (brakes) it should last a good while
