Looking for a cheap front mech, not bothered about condition just something I can use for 1x9 setup to stop chain jumping off middle chain ring.

You could pick up a tidy single ring device for a very similar amount to a usable mech.
Would look a lot tidier too.
+ dependent upon what position ring your are using (outer, middle, inner) you might need a longer than usual adjustment screw to push out the cage enough.
