Hi all

i am having a couple of issues with my current build

firstly my rear caliper is binding against the disc
the mount side is rubbing so must mean the mount is too close to disc
do you get these faced or is it a frame problem (frame is nos never been built up before)

secondly what discs use countersunk screws?
my front disc when using normal bolts catch the fork legs

any opinons chaps???

Thanks Rob

Reading this reminded me that I've forgotten about the bolts

I'll post them out 1st thing in the morning.

Silly question but what calliper mounts are you using?
Wondering how much space you have to slide the calliper across?

its the factory fitted mount so is welded in place
i dont know if they can be faced up to take out the tightness ???

poss only needs 0.2mm to clear i should think

Rob

o are the bolts a low head height??? ;)

yeha may need facing or for the paint to chip off a bit :?
or move your caliper to the side?

as i recall, on my old frame i had to file the mount a bit (a sacrificial mount i suppose), rather than the frame or whatever

not sure on fork leg one, maybe you jam a spacer on the axle?
i find some bolt heads to be smaller than others but the one i have now are fairly large cheap ones (£10 for 100)
work fine though

Could it just be one of the pistons on that side needs to be pushed back in?
My Hope original M4 was like that, pushed them in and it was OK.
Have a look on the new Hope site, I know you have XTR's but disc brakes are generally similar how they work, there's a video showing you how to do it.

no its defo the caliper body touching the disc
has witness marks on caliper when removed

will give lbs a call moday see if they can face the mount up

Sorry, by caliper I just assumed you meant pads.

I have Hope 5 hole discs that have countersunk holes for countersink bolts. Did have the same problem as you with another disc system where bolts hit leg of fork. Can't remember if I got other, flatter headed bolts, probably did, but I did file a neat flat on leg of fork to clear bolts on disc.
