Skye 2011 Aftermath thread....

I love the hilarity of "B Lunch stop in the Blue Shed Cafe, Torrin"

Interesting fact #243:

Quiraing

The unusual rock formations of the Quiraing in the north of Skye briefly appears at the end of The Land that Time Forgot.
This scene was filmed on the opposite side of the road to the car park at the top of the pass.

:D 'Late supper of humble pie from empty Camelbak' more like.

I think I'll redo the map with some new annotations to reflect reality.

TK, your post about The Land that Time Forgot jogged a wee memory about the film Flash Gordon. I think, somebody correct if I'm wrong please, that at the start of Flash Gordon the scene is at a small airfield with hot rocks raining down, with Robbie Coltraine as one of the ground crew, this was filmed on Raasay the island to west of Skye. Might be a load of pish as my memory is crap now.

Other films on Skye,

apparently.

Sorry for hijack, guys.

pretty sure you are right there OCP. There or the hebrides. (2001 used the Hebrides at the end too)

Just got permission from Andy Mccandlish http://www.andymccandlish.com/ to use the hans ray picture on retrobike with rado's version

Top guy - he did the Slig loop a couple of weeks back too, probably a bit faster than me :)

Bring back POTM! Some truly great images :D Nice bikes too, where did you get the Salsa Rado? Also how do you rate your bike choice? Underbiked or overbiked?

My bike choice was fine for the speed we were traveling at :)
for day 1 bigger suspension would have been good on the downhill, as would rear sus, really glad I had the disc brakes but they could have been set up to be lighter to use.

I could only fault the rider on day 2 - absolutely feared oot me breeks!
