Shimano FC-1055 Chainset new 39 tooth chainring

Hi all,

I want to change a 42 tooth FC-1055 Chainring from a 7 speed setup to a 39 tooth.

Will a Sora FC-3300 39 Tooth work ok ?

It fits in terms of BCD and says it a SG one.

Aren't the Sora's steel? ISTR that because of this they're thinner, and that they end up too close to the outer ring = chain rub. I'm not certain, though - perhaps someone else has experience of this?

thin spacers should sort that

I remember those gold looking spacers on early deore chainsets, alas a quick look in my old bits box revealed nothing.
