Am I allowed to play in this forum, am I retro enough?

Retro Guru
Just signed up guys, on account my few remaining biking buddies keep shaking their heads at my bike, made worse by the fact I'm in the process of a rebuild, but still insist on using thumbshifters, and keeping my early 90's Ti frame.

X-Lite / Raleigh full Ti frame
XC Pro thumbies and r/mech
RS1 cranks, micro drive
'XT' spuds with SRP Ti spindles (orginal spuds)
fat Mavic rims, ceramic
Hope hubs, originals
7sp (but going 8sp)
hope ti bb, square taper, old

BUT
ahead system
Judy SL forks
Avid cantis and levers
riser bars, NO bar ends

Do I get in, 'cos if I do I've got a question to ask!

Sure you're retro enough :D

All welcome regardless.

Get some pics of your Raleigh in the readers bikes section, good to see a some British retro.

So..... what's the question ?

Thanks, I'll try and sort out a photo when its re built

The question.....

For all those still running XC Pro thumbies, which last forever and are often available...............what do you do for rear mechs, which don't last so long, and don't seem to be availbale?

My 2 XC pro r/mechs still have life in 'em, but could get wreaked tomorrow.

cheers

It is true that the rear mech are not so good , i have broken a few on my stumpjumper . I will post later a website in the for sale category where you could find one .

You should get away with any old mech. Alternatively you can pickup xc-pro off ebay.
I've run suntour thumbies with a Shimano block and it's worked OK. Not perfect but OK>
