1980 Peugeot PY 10 Project

Have had this Peugeot PY 10 frame and forks a while now and have now almost got all the bits to go on it.

I will have the frame refinished properly before the build so here is a taster of stage 1.

Now I'm a Peugeot fan, 1st proper bike I owned and crashed was a Pug.
Lusted after a PY10 for donkeys.....

Do not confuse this with a PX 10!
For those not familiar the PY 10 was top of the Peugeot range, built in the special salon/factory that the team bikes were produced...so theres the snob value out of the way....

Think Thevenet / Kuiper / Laurent / Millar .....

The frames were in Reynolds 531 SL. And the geometry could be custom tweaked blah blah!!

So anyway cos I'm a short arse it's rare to find a diddy PY 10...so when this popped up..snapped it up.

I think PY 10's will become well fancied in the next couple of years....not that really has any bearing as to why I like Peugeot, indeed when you look at these against alot of the usual Pug dross youre reminded they did make a couple of good machines.

Any way I'll keep all updated as the build progresses.... might get a few Peugeot converts too.

The frame and forks are in a really sound condition, just a little scruffy....a real gem. Once I have had it re finished it will be a real sight.

The paint work is white pearlescent.

So what I have planned for the equipment is to kit it as close to a 1980 team bike as reasonably possible.

Spidel (Simplex)SLJ Derailieurs
Spidel Shifters
Spidel LS2 brakes

I have both the Mafac professionnel levers and the drilled Mafac competition levers....so undecided.

Spidel Pedals
Spidel 106 Chainset (53/42)

Super Competition 'Performance' Rims.... they are the lighter version Arc en Ciel Tub rim.

I could not get a decent set of Spidel 700 hubs, so I have a set of Mavic 550's which are my favourite anyway.

seat post, I currently have an SR Laprade
saddle I have a Selle Royal CX.... but may swap it over to a Ideale 2002, undecided.

Stem is Cinelli 1R
And I'm in two minds on the handlebars either Cinelli Giro d'Italia or I have a set of Ambrosio campione du mondo....nice

Here's a bit of brochure bumpf

Couple more of the guys.... you get the picture......

This bike was a proper bit of kit in its day, I'm hoping to build it back up to something like its past glory!!

If anyone else on the forum has a decent PY 10 I would be interested in pics etc out of nosiness.

Regards

The brakes

I got a bit of a minor dilemma, I have 2 sets of mafac levers to put on.
Competition drilled or the slightly later non drilled professionel...

I'm leaning towards the non drilled.

The brakes are team issue spidel LS2
