Brian Rourke Reynolds 531 1970s?

Old School Grand Master
This is my Brian Rourke from the early 70s i think
Reynolds 531 tubing
Not sure of the year though,anyone any idea from the photos
Nice and Light
Very Nice Paintwork/Spearpoint Lugs with nice Lug Lining Work
Paint was Dull When i Bought it,Still Some Work To Be one
No Bottle Cage Mountings,Could it be for Time Trialling??

If it's early 70's then it would make sense that there are no bottle cage mounts, they weren't a standard fitment till later.

Lovely looking bike.
 
Doubt if its early 70s... my dad had a very similarly specced and painted 531 new from Rourke in about '82.

Looks great though!
 
yup and those cut out lugs and old style 531 badge all point to the 70s too! maybe it belonged to gene hunt at some point?!!

Here's a picture of the Rourke when i received it
I must admit this is one of my favourites.
I bought this localy in North Wales a few months ago,It came with all the Campag components,although i did sell the L/F Campag hubs,should have kept them!!! :roll:
The lug lining has come upa treat,they were a grimy yellow before,i need to work on the seat tube cluster to get them nice and white
I still think it is early 70s with the original 531 seat tube sticker
and the date stamped components
It is a real joy to ride

Looks great though!

That just goes to show how slowly bike gear and frame design changed back then.
