Please, please, please do not go down this route.

I contacted BBB directly a year or so ago asking if these would be suitable for offroad use.

The response was a firm no.

This may be them being overly cautious in the world we live in now but it was enough for me to re think my options.

just my 0.02$ worth though

.

Defo external headset it seems, i've figured this out by looking at the Pig DH pro that came cable tied to the frame  :D :D

unsure on a low stack height for external
isnt the sunline v2 supposed to be low stack?
and there is a cane creek one which is meant to be crap!

what stem you using? no where else you can save a few mm?

Low stack headset and raceface diabalous d2 stem, shouldn't need much steerer!

dmr swarm stem stack height is 5mm smaller than the d2
half the price
funky colours
only 15g heavier too

but you already have a stem like that dont you?

lmttm - cheers for the info

.

I'll see what the gusset bits look like when they get here.
Do they do the swarm for a 31.8 bar?
If it was just a general xc bike i might chance it, but not on this :?

.

I've tried a standard headset 23mm stack and a 30mm stack stem and the steerer is about 18mm into the stem.
If i use a bolt through stemlock doodah to lock it all together?
Would you risk it?

.

I need a steerer then, 210mm+.
In my experience of pressing steerer tubes in and out any steerer will do.
Only stipulation for these forks is that the section where the crown race seats must extend 40mm from the bottom of the steerer tube ;)

.

Why? Thats how they get them in there in the first place?
Anyhoo i've decided to weld a bit on the top at work instead :D which sure is far worse :D :D :D :D :D
No idea why i didn't think of this instantly, what with being a welder an all :D
