Which model GT?

Wandering which model GT road bike this is, the year and if its worth the Â£500 its been offered to me at?

Probably a 1st or 2nd year Fury

The Edge model was DA spec'd in the early years so I'm guessing that this was a Fury from 94 or 5.

mmm, I was thinking 97 edge frame and fork as it was also 6061 and GT decals are about right.

If I buy it is there any way of telling from the frame number?

FURY

If it's original spec 600 Ultegra it has to be a FURY, which by the way were also basically the same 6061 frame until they took the Fury Aero in 96.

94 to current

Yes they are from 1994 (1st year of GT road bikes...I have Edge serial number 5) to current.

Serial number will give you the year and model. The road bikes were usually like this 94GTE5. This serial number is from a 94 model, GT Edge hence the "E" and the 5th built. I believe they used GTO on Fury's not GTF. My sons serial number is 96GTOXXX.

Yes I see, my serial number is GT941XXX. I suppose on your sons the 0 is a ZERO rather than an identifying letter. Just probably an earlier produced model in that year.
