i have found sun rims to be quite strong :D i have a set of evil eyes on my univega and they've been fine with me

Another one for the 521 here....

Mine are Hope front/LX rear, plain gauge spokes, built by Merlin and are straight as a die 10 years on!

i found mavic d521s good, but then sun mtx (36mm width!) are better. Had for 12 years and taken drops, stairs and everything - no need true. Which was on a hope xc and that is still going after 12 year!

X-Lite Phatso's if you can find them. Wide, super strong - I have never buckled a set. Even after snapping three spokes with a branch the rear ran true...

they could be very hard to find lol

i have the rims on the bike all ready (d521 mavics) im just now thinging what nice 36 hole hubs to go for?????
dont need disc fittings either ;)

yeah phatso's are rather rare now
just standard xt hubs? (i thought i would suggest it first  )

not sure after that, most of the ultra strong ones will be aimed at disc
why not just get a disc hub as a just in case?

discs are the work of the devil i tell you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and have been thinking xt myself a dependable hub if not too flash ;)
