FWIW I rate shimano brakes over hopes any day of the week, maybe not looks wise (though XTR comes damn close).

Last time I had xtr brakes was 1994 on my Marin team issue. Loved them, and I think the M975 will suit the swift. Can't wait to get hold of it and ride it now

Updated with pics of finished bike. It rides beautifully, but I am yet to give it some real stick off road.
