they replace rim tape - one in each spoke hole on the rim. I guess if a wheel has a low number of spokes it would save weight.

Veloplug - the best idea since the invention of clincher rims,
made available by Velocity, the rim makers from Australia.

Rim tape usually weigh about 20 grams.
32 Veloplugs weigh only 5 grams.
Fewer spokes - then the savings are greater.
Tyre mounting is easier with the Veloplugs.
Incredible blow strength. Tyre start to fail long before the Veloplug.
Veloplugs can be used over and over.
Veloplugs (red) fit in 8 mm holes

Velocity Veloplugs / 72 Piece Bag
£9.99 - Planet X Bikes

Are they a good fit, will they stay in OK during a tyre change?

.

Just weighed my cheapy rim tape off the Haro - 18g, so £10 to save 26g... 38p per gram saved :?

Computer says no.

On a related note - difference in weight between a bog standard Deore disc hub and an XT one? 24g! Shimano are having a laugh!

you lot are mental- lose a pound of weight off yer arse and it costs nowt ;) in fact it will save you money- I could save a fortune

Loose a couple of pound of the erse and you could make money down the docks (kaiser and velo told me)

And another benefit if you have a tight rim the plugs are good for this too.

agree its getting to the sharp end of the stick but I'm chasing every gram at the moment, theres a slight possibility the bike could come in under 15lbs.

And yes a doing big shite or losing a few pounds from the ass would help but thats not the purpose of weenieng!
