1997 Ibis Hakkalügi

Here's my 1997 Ibis Hakkalügi. I built it up as a go-anywhere, do-anything adventure bike. Accordingly, it's got an eclectic mix of road and mountain parts. (For example, I chose an extra-stout 36-hole rear wheel that can accommodate heavier touring loads).

Aside from the bike's all-around versatility (and sparkly Gang Green color), my favorite thing about it is the buttery steel ride!

yeah, i really like that. great build! nice frame colour too...the grey xtr is a perfect match.

Mind blowing welding, looks like fillet brazed or it is fillet brazed?

One of the things I always appreciated about Ibis is that it's always been funky and different (especially the original incarnation of the company, in the 1980s-90s, before various changes in ownership).

My Planet X Kaffenback is similar to this; built up as a jack of all trades crosser/roadie/tourer.

How much did you pay for the frame?

I don't recall for sure, as I bought the frame 14 years ago, but I know that retail was USD $995 at the time. I was working at a bike shop when I bought the Ibis, and I got employee pricing...I think I paid around USD $700 in 1997. That's just a guess, though...
