Adjusting MC40 brake levers

I have a set of STX-RC levers and they have a small re-positionable allen bolt marked H & L. If i alter it then it moves a small cable guide inside the
lever to either touch the cable (setting L) or away from the cable (H). What is the purpose of this adjustment.

Ive taken a photo to show you what i mean

*I intend to use these levers with a set of M960 XTR V-Brakes for the time being.

I have no idea but am bored at work and no-one else appears to be online so I'll take a guess. Could it be that it changes something inside to do with the position of the cable end? This may be for using with either canti's or V's. Canti's and V's were both available on the STX groupo weren't they?

This is only a guess though; others with more knowledge will no doubt confirm.

it gives different "feel" to V's

high makes them a bit sharper. LX version had 3 positions.

And my Avids had a twiddly thing operating a cam that gave infinite adjustment. Makes very little difference in my opinion!
