I am trying to ID some wheels I have just bought (in particular the year) so I can gather the tech info / service documents / keep an eye out for any special tools I need
Info known so far :
Sidewall (ceramic) ID : Crossmax SL SSC
All silver - spokes, hubs etc
Flat fat bladed spokes
Radial front
Radial / 2x rear
Machined rims between spokes
UST
Weight (calibrated scales) - front 651.0g / rear 852.7g
The hubs look to adjusted from one side only via a collar with pin holes. Front adjuster is ano black, rear looks to be Ti
They have serial number stickers but the Mavic tech section on the website either doesn't recognise them or doesn't work :-(
Sound like the last generation before Crossmax SL SSC in red. Would make them a bit earlier than 2007. Am thinking 2005-6. But may have continued through 2007 too.
This had some surface rust on it but it cleaned off with a spray of GT85 and a light scrub with a toothbrush so I suspect it might have been transfer from the cassette ? – I don’t know what material it is ? :
Serial numbers if it helps the ID :
Spoke count / lacing patterns:
The geeky alignment shot :
I do suspect now that they might be 97’s, would you agree ?
