Oi Oi!

Eh up!

I found this site whilst searching for Sprung 2 VHS. I haven't been riding for a good few years now due to 3x bike thefts and injury (Dr suggested I looked for a new hobby so I picked up the guitar in July 2000). Been playing in punk bands since. I'm intending to put a bike together again because my little one has just turned 2 and I want to take her out on rides. I also want her to have the healthy childhood that I did, which was brought about by a passion for mountainbiking. I'd rather she was throwing herself around the local trails that hanging about the streets/shops with a bunch of lowlife scumbags.

Anyway, one of the things I DO regret is lending an old mate my Sprung 2 video. The swine stopped coming out and I lost touch. I still get some of the songs from the video stuck in my head and I'm trying to track some of them down but don't know the artists or song titles. I believe Afrika Bambaataa was featured maybe once or twice.

Can anyone help me please? I'll let you know how the new bike project goes... i'm looking at maybe an LTS or an FSR.

Thanks for reading.

Luke

Hey

I've also been one of those people who browse the site but was never actually registered and a few friends nagged me, so here I am!

I have been cycling for years (since I was able I think!) but never really had the spare cash to buy myself something extra specail and admire lots of the 'collections' people seem to have on here - very jealous

I currently ride a slightly battered looking muddy fox courier but she's still my daily ride to work and I'm thinking this site is giving me the encouragement I need to restore her, so watch this space :)

Hi guys, thought I'd best introduce myself. I'm Ryan and live in Leicester. I used to race XC in my early teens for the Graham Goode Cycles team until Rugby took over my free time. Anyway I was clearing out my folks garage earlier on and found my old bike - a 97/98 (not sure) Saracen Kili Pro and some of the gear I'd not given away. I'm giving the bike a good once over this week as it's been well over 12 years since it saw any meaningful action! Hope to make it out for a few cafe runs once I get back in the saddle.

Does anyone ever write anything here?!?!

Hi everyone,

having taken a long break from bikes, I find myself being lured in by my friends shiny old skool konas from when I was a kid. My first bike was a Raleigh Activator (oh how terrible it was if you ask me!). Why they bothered with the suspension is beyond me.

In later years, I went on to own a Specialised Rockhopper FS (with Z1's on the front, way too much travel for that frame!!) and then a 2005 Kona Stinky. Around this time I decided that I am a bit of a Kona fan and got envious of my friends ones

Anyway, I now own a 1995 Kona Lava Dome which spent about 2 days at home before my 'gentle service' turned into a full on strip and rebuild. Gotta say, I have missed playing around with bikes!

So, hope to have it built up soon, once the headset races are replaced and I stop wanting to buy replacement period parts! I will upload some piccies once its all done for your approval :D

See you all around!

Dan

Hello

Hello everybody, at the beginning of 2009 i started riding again and started to miss the bikes from the nineties, thanks god i found that forum.
In 1994 i fell in love with the GT STS and some months ago i finally acquired one LTS frame. I hope i can present it soon.

Congratulations for the site.

Alright all, Im back in the country for a bit! So more of a reintroduce yourself here post... Not working at the moment so should get a few rides in (if I can brave the cold long enough!)

Cheers

Hi Everybody, I've arrived at Retrobike via recommendations.

I've just started riding again on a Merlin (UK) mid nineties mountain bike.
I haven't ridden a bike for years.
I'm also starting my very first build project with a traditional ladies bike to practice my bike restoration and modification skills.

Laura :)

Welcome to the site, carefull with the for sale section
Get some pics of the Merlin on here. :D

i'm nathan from South wales UK . been MTBing over 16 years. I love older bikes and parts they just seem to look nicer and work better than some newer parts. I loved the look of the old pace RC200's and pace forks.

The bug's got me again

Recently getting back in to MTB again after a 8 year gap. Used to ride loads when I blew my first student loan payment on a GT XCR 4000 i-Drive in 1999. Got in to downhill racing and used to race the Midlands downhill scene. Used to love the Kiss Promosport track in Gloucestershire and the Bikes N' Berms track in Hereford. Ended up getting a Club Roost DH8, DMR Trailstar and a Hoffman 900. Sold most of them when I got my own place but after watching some old vids on YouTube I'm determined to get back in to bikes.

Would love to eventually own a GT LOBO (the bike that started it all off for me :) ) but will start off small me thinks.
