Here's my first Ti frame... a good ol' Raleigh!

IMG_1702.jpg

Seller told me that it was too small (16.25") for the original owner, so had been hanging up in the garage for years. Seems likely, as it is in nice condition - some cable rub, minor scratches only and no chainstay damage. Not 100% sure about the year, but think it may be a '97. Has a thread for a canti guide on the rear wishbone stay.

Looks very like this in the '97 catalogue:-

Although, in the '97 catalogue the frame seems to be TIMET but this one is IMI. :? Can anybody help with the date please?

Have started to build the Raleigh up this week.

Mostly with bits I already have, some modern-ish. Going to give single-speeding a go for the first time - hoping that trying something new will get me out riding more!

That looks fine! reminds me of my gf`s bike-a raleighUSA M800(alu),has the same wisbone stays. Whats the thread above the BB for?

and what is IMI? guess not IsraelMilitaryIndustries

Nice frame.

We used both Timet titanium from Birmingham and then worked with IMI at Swansea to develop a tubeset for use specifically for our plasma-arc welding systems, rather than taking stock 3al 2.5v off the shelf.

The small threaded insert above the bb is for a bb mounted front mech.

I hope you enjoy your frame.

Best regards

Thanks for the comments.

Got it finished off and have been out on a couple of evening rides this week. Frame rides nice and gearing is fine to start with at 36:18.

Will post some pics at weekend. :)
