Any suggestions for retro-looking amber wall tyres?

Hmm. I've just stuck some slightly perilous looking but extremely bargainous DSI 27 x 1 1/4's (http://www.dsitire.com/profile.php; bought from Hopkinsons Cycles in Horbury http://www.thecyclingexperts.co.uk/find ... hop=103094 on the mighty ebay) on my Raleigh Europa. I guess these aren't going to win races, but I'll let you know how I get on with them.

There are Conti Gatorskins knocking about on ebay at the moment - in the flesh these have a dark brown wall and look quite nice on, although it'snot posible to mistake them for a classic tyre. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Continental-Ultra ... 27b847ed59

Thought I saw some amber walled tyres in Decatlalon for £7.99 each, did not look at them close - but they are cheap :D

The Michelin Dynamics I got for mine were only about £7.99 each and they seem to be screwed together reasonably well. They do them right down to a 700x20c as well.

I still like Michelin World Tours.

I find the Passelas a bit thin and hard. Although faster.

I use Veloflex Pave's. Admittedly they don't get alot use so I can't vouch for their longevity but they certainly look the part. PBK usually have them at good prices.

Not tried them yet..

But I've just ordered a pair of 27"x11/8" (28-630) Pasela Tour Guard Compes from SJS. Primarily because they're quoted as being 90g (each) lighter than the 11/4" Pasela.

Not tanwall, but I like Contis, which still look good. I caution against older Turbos. I have have three self destruct (the tire peeled away from the casing) after about 5km each.
