All time favourite .

Steel: I'd make my own on a Dave Yates frame building course!

Titanium: The first Marin Team Titanium from 1987

Aluminium: Amp B3

Carbon: Scott Scale or the new Colnago Ibex MTB (modern, I know, but I never trusted earlier carbon)

Retro --
Steel: Yeti FRO (got 198:cool:
Alu: Pace (got RC200 F5)
Ti: Merlin XLM (got Mountain 1994, so close enough for now!)
Carbon: Probably that Spesh that Pace bought (still room in my garage for it, mate!)

Modern:
Steel: Indy Fab
Alu: hmmm, no idea actually
Ti: Moots
Carbon: Scott Spark Team looked very nice, but the Seven ti / carbon jobby looks pretty special, too. Or even the S-Works?

Steel: I want my custom ferrous SS back :(

Titanium: A lightspeed Obed customised to take a rohloff

Aluminium: The muddy Fox with the linked front and rear sus

Carbon: A carbon windcheater complete with fairings!

Thermoplastic/fibreglass; An endorphin!

steel: charge duster
titanium: cotic soul think thats there ti frame

Steel ; Indy Fab Deluxe (of course)

Ti ; Any Merlin (not a Ti Deluxe though for some reason)
Carbon : Ditto Cannondale King

Also Steel and Ally ; Fisher CR7

steel: fro
ti: ybb
alu: klein adroit in forest green
carbon, as I have already said, is good for fishing rods, but if I had to choose, specy ultimate

Steel ; Something handbuilt by Vanilla or Soulcraft
Ti ; Steve Potts has done some nice stuff lately
Ally ; Mantis Pro-Floater, retro heaven
Carbon ; Stork Organic

This completes the voting for the Devon jury :D

Easy! (ish)

Steel - Don Myrah's Ritchey P-23 from the 1990 - This one http://www.oldmountainbikes.com/catalogs/ritchey/articles/win_90/index.html

Aluminium - GT Zaskar - everybody wanted one - I had an original with full and U-Brake on the Seatstay

Ti - Bontrager Titanium - have a customer with one (with childseat - how cool!)

Carbon - Trek 9900 OCLV - one of the twin colour ones (Yellow one side / eggplant (purple) the other) OR Team version (with with blue graphics one side - reversed other)

Mixed - Fisher CR7 i wanted one!

That particular P-23 is in my sad eyes the most beautiful bike ever made!

Steel - I am going to have to agree P23 always wanted one still do!!!

Alu - Pace RC100 Got it

Ti - Mongoose tomac replica (complete with steel back end hope it still counts)

Carbon/non-metallic - Endorphin just look ace.

But most off all I want this a Ritchey tandem, the ultimate steel machine!!
