Replacing the heater matrix must be the worst job on a car!

After putting it off for weeks while having steam coming out the vents and hot water pouring into the passenger footwell, i finally tackled it.

What a mare!

I agree changed one on an rs turbo once horrible job and i feel for anyone that has to do it.

Yep, most manufacturers take the heater matrix then build the car around it

Used to hate doing them on the old Renaults i served my time on.

What kind of car is it ?

Incedently the worst job i ever did on a car was a clutch on a Lancia Thema Turbo i.e, made me give up the tools for a living :x

At least you can sit and do it

Try lying on your back while spilling ep90 on yourself trying to fill a type 9 gearbox that doesn't really fit in a mk2 escort tunnel .

On the subject of classics ever tried scraping underseal off a car ?, done a couple in my time, terrible job, ends up in your hair, ears, up your nose and no matter how carefull you are you end up with bits of it in the house in the carpet :x

A mate did his de-undersealed and POR-15'd his 69 Dodge Charger, took him four months solid

At least you know the heater matrix will be a ball ache. It's the little, simple jobs like rear discs and pads which then go wrong when one of the caliper carrier bolts shears. At 4pm on a sat. In the rain. And no breakers open on a Sunday.

Grrr!

It's a ZX 16v

the sitting down bit was the only consolation, the sheer volume of things to dismantle and remember how it fits together again though

At least my knuckles are intact, anything to do with outside of the car and i always bloody my hands, the worst being trying to change a cambelt on my 205 Mi16

Easy way to remove underseal in about an hour, just do some welding on the floor and set fire to the thing lol

Headgasket failure on bmw 2002ti

I never EVER want to be removing a 2002 engine again in my life

We must of rebuilt the engine at least 6 times over a 3 week period including getting towed in off qualifying and getting it back out for the race, Never got to the bottom of it ... Ran out of money
