Is it true that bright lightbulbs are banned across all eurasia?

Oh dear god it sounds like the beginning of the end...

True the Gov & EU will ban normal Bulbs for those crappy other type

It's been happening for a while, it a voluntary removal from sale from what I remember, starting at the high wattage and moving down the the lower one's with the eventual phase out around 2011.

It only the sale of them, you can use them all you like.

I think a total ban (like some countries may be going to do) would be difficult as some areas (cars ?) need to use filament bulbs and the grey area's would be wide open. That and have you seen the cost of LED & CFL GU10's, they may not blow every other week but they cost a lot, the LED are still not bright enough and the CFL just don't fit in most the fitments.

Car filament bulbs dont really affect the national grid tho...

Bloody people... ah well.. Have to buy new lamps...

the society for the blind (and poor sighted) is not happy as the eco bulbs are not as bright. So more poor sighted will get hurt.
Also those bulbs are only cheeper if used for over 3 hours constant use.

It's an EU directive. They've ordered all EU countries to stop manufacturing filament light bulbs from September (next month). Which is bad news if you suffer from the type of migrane that's triggered by long exposure to fluorescent bulbs.

Let's vote these EU bureaucrats out! .....Oh, wait a minute... :(

Bloody low voltage bulbs.

Take ages to "light up" by which time you have already fallen down the stairs, you reach to bottom just in time to see your leg bent round your head!

Also, the damn things flicker the same as strobe bulbs in offices do, making you feel tired etc.
