2015 - about a million tons of landfill consisting of FM receivers & car radios as FM is switched off.

About the most short sighted idea possible by Brown & Co.

But DAB is rubbish  Oh well don't listen to the radio much. The dj's are w@nkers

If anything, DAB will be the one that's switched off. The expected market revenue that DAB was meant to have generated has proved to not be there; you can't sell advertising on a station no-one listens to. And the sound quality, a tradeoff as a result of transmitting too many low rent stations with poor quality audio using the MP2 codec (from 1986!) means it's actually a tradeoff.

Internet radio will be the death of DAB.

Won't happen, mainly because of cars. DAB is a pain in cars as the signal reflects off things really badly. A passing lorry can cause all sorts of strange interference. It just simply will not happen, I'm sure of it.

I love my DAB radio, I'm listening to it now and have one in the man cave too. BBC7 and radio 4 are the only things I have to fend off the lonliness.
