I can't deny it any longer, as I've got older I've started to snore. I've tried a few things but none have worked so far. Anyone have any recommendations or success stories for things that work?

I've tried nasal strips, throat spray, nasal sprat and gumshield type 'cures', and even when all are combined they haven't had the desired effect.

The only this that I find works is earplugs and........

The spare room.

I can still hear her though.

Seriously.

She tried all that stuff and even the chin strap and coat hanger up the nose.

My ex started snoring as she got older, tried everything. Sleeping on your side helps and kind of stops it, and pressing the reset button helps, just a quick nudge to waken them and they move into a different postition and stop :)

Eventually after trying everything she took the final step and had her tonsils removed, which worked. She did eventually start snoring again after a few years but no different than anyone who is sleeping on their back, and if you can get to sleep before the snorer then its irrelevent anyway

 Except that when i've been drinking, or have a cold, or have had an asthma attack in the last week, or have had anyone smoking near me i snore loudly enough to wake the dead.

So does my wife.

So sometimes we spend a period of about a week/10 days taking it in turns to wake each other up. Or wake ourselves up.

I started snoring badly about a year ago and have now tried most of the available off the shelf so-called cures none of which have worked. My wife even tried custom made ear plugs but she found them uncomfortable so the only real cure is for me to sleep in the spare room which does nothing for our relationship.

If you can got to your GP and get referred to an Ear, Nose and throat specialist. I have a friend who did this and was found to have sleep apnoea and stopped breathing up to 20 times a night! he has now got an oxygen mask on the NHS and it has cured his snoring :)
