England lose to the Netherlands? Wow

England-bashing aside (and I'm not one to partake) games like this do endear me to the Twenty 20 format and I hope the World Cup and The Ashes make the Summer a festival of the game.

Just waiting for the highlights to appear on iPlayer ... what a year to move abroad - doh!

A dark day indeed. This kind of thing plays into the hands of the Aussies- they'll be pissing themselves with laughter over this.

Not a Twenty 20 or one day fan anyway. Give me the slow grinding game- Boycott at the crease for two full days anytime, real cricket!

Laugh! No I won’t, that would be poor form, just a quiet chuckle in the privacy of my own home will do.

Though it did make the news here http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009 ... 591179.htm and here http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009 ... 591342.htm

The bit I liked best was “Victorian fast bowler Dirk Nannes, who by virtue of his Dutch heritage is turning out for them in this tournament, opened the bowling and finished his four overs with figures of 0 for 30”. So Australia sort of had a hand in the win.

But truth be told, I think Twenty 20 is really just a hit and giggle game aimed at non-traditional cricketing countries (but will most likely take off in cricketing countries).

Just a bit of trivia (without the help of Google), does anyone know which 2 country’s were involved in the first international cricket match?

I would love to see more countries be competitive at test level. Roll on the 5 day tests

LQQK, hope you have a better game against Sri Lanka than the Windies, though losing to the dutch is particularly shabby....

Personally I think 20/20 is great for the game - it promotes cricket to people and entire countries who normally wouldn't be interested, and it's always good to see a Sussex lad get man of the match........

Even if Sussex were beaten by Hampshire by 9 wickets a couple of weeks back! ;)
