only cost a little bit more than these

£39.99 for MTB tyres and £49.50 fitted for car tyres!!!

.

I imagine its a supply and demand thing. I should think they sell a few more car tyres than bike tyres, therefore they produce more making them cheaper to produce which makes them cheaper individually. It follows on with motorbike tyres, cheapest rear for my GSXR is around £100 mark  . Do tell me if I start waffling ;)

i think its also because we're prepared to pay silly prices for bike tyres. if nobody bought them at that price they would make them cheaper. the majority of people demand cheap car tyres, and they get them. having said that there are cheap bike tyres around.

if you compare a top end mountain bike tyre with a top end car tyre there will be a considerable price difference

A performance tyre like a Michelin Pilot Sport will run you well over £250 per shoe. As indicated above, you cannot compare a budget car tyre with a performance bike tyre as a simple price comparison.
