Flaps (canti stud content)

Old School Grand Master
I've bought yet another frame, and it's arrived today.
What the owner failed to mention is one of the canti studs is bent.
Has anyone ever bent a canti stud back into alignment? It's not very far gone, if I ran it with a booster maybe it'd hold.
Or are the forks a write off?
The rest of the frame is quite nice. Exactly the same as the Fisher I sold to Sheffield, in fact.

Is it the post itself that is bent? I would have thought that if a brake can be fitted that the misalignment could be negated with pad set up.

I'll have a go at setting them up, but half the brakes were missing too.
Off to the shed for a canti brake.

Forget I said any of that, they're not bent at all!
They're fine, it's just that the mount is a funny shape. It's exactly the same on the other side once you take the brake off.

Still, rather too big for me. On the swaps board, I'm afraid.

Apply some heat first Chris
dont work it cold or it will snap

A paint stripping gun will get it hot enough[too hot to touch] to prevent any sudden shearing, mount a canti on it and apply gentle but firm pressure a little at a time
You will have to find a way to mount a square to check to see its progress
Also,You may not be able to see it moving so do a little at a time,Apply firm pressure then check ,apply pressure then check

A bit like handling a bear ;)
No sudden movements
